2) The government has mopped up Rs 77,000 crore from the sale of telecom spectrum, surpassing the amount grossed in last year's sale, as top carriers Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, and Idea Cellular shed caution and made competitive bids on day three of the auctions to secure airwaves in circles where their licences are due to expire.
3) National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has fixed the ceiling price of 509 essential medicines which led to a reduction in rates by above 40 per cent in case of 127 drugs, Parliament was informed today.
4) The Army will erect a 'smart fence' that bears minimal snowfall damage along the Line of Control. With sample prototypes in place, the Army will also integrate night vision cameras with motion detectors as well as LED lights along the 550-km stretch to thwart any infiltration bids as the snow melts each year.
5) In what would be music to India's ears ahead of PM Narendra Modi's trip to Sri Lanka next week, the Maithripala Sirisena government has decided to suspend the Beijing-funded $1.5 billion Colombo port city project pending investigation.
6) In view of the skewed gender ratio in the state, Haryana government is mulling to frame a law under which registration of pregnancy will be made compulsory.
7) City-wise task forces have been set up by Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu for drawing up concrete action plans for development of Ajmer, Allahabad and Visakhapatnam as Smart Cities.
8) Pakistani students, on 6th March, formed a human shield for Hindus celebrating Holi at a temple here to protect and show solidarity with the minority community. The National Student's Federation (NSF) formed the shield at Swami Narayan Temple as part of an attempt to promote interfaith coexistence and cooperation among different religious and ethnic groups..
