Politically unpopular, they lead to a hue and cry because it makes eminent sense to trash decisions which aren't populist. A paroxysm of fear over an unpopular decision cannot be the true signature of tall leadership. Dole and welfare economics are the bane of the Indian governance system. European sensibilities were the polar end of the script for the last decade. The only denomination known to the Congress was to ring fence Bharat by buying their votes through freebies. When the people saw through the freebies and revolted against the corruption therein, it was goodbye Congress because an alternative in the form and shape of Narendra Modi had emerged.
